This is a nice series of images of historic Matewan as it is today featured by one of our clients, The WV Community Development HUB. We didn’t work on this particular project but it’s pretty neat to follow what The HUB does so check it out:

Photo Series: A Day in Matewan, WV

I like this series because these images are both familiar and new. “Familiar” in that Matewan has a true Appalachian-town feel. Any of these photos could be from Elkins. And “new” because I had not seen Matewan that way. It mahttp://wvhub.org/photo-series-a-day-in-matewan/kes me look at what our town, Buckhannon, Clarksburg, Matewan and all the little towns in Appalachia have in common culturally that I usually don’t pick up on unless I travel to Europe. Its neat to see how something that might seem so commonplace—like their jail house, or their river, or their “movie-set” waterfront—can also be unique and special.
